The Garmin VivoActive isn’t the most attractive of fitness wearables but what it lacks in design in certainly makes up for in functionality. The Vivoactive contains a GPS to allow for accurate tracking of cycling, swimming and running and it’s one of the few fitness trackers that with a more interactive interface, allowing for live pace and distance monitoring and on the go notifications.

The sleep monitoring could do with some work and it’s on the more expensive side of trackers, but this justified by its strong features and accurate sports tracking.

Round the leg for running, on the wrist for training or boxing and this is where the Moov Now really comes into its own. Its 3D motion sensors allow it to build up a computer generated image of the activities you are doing, allowing for more accurate tracking of fitness dependent on the type of activity you are doing. This 3D picture then allows the software to actually coach you on your form and technique and guide you through different workouts.

One of the first brands to really make an impact on the wearable fitness tracker scene was Nike with their Nike+ Fuel Band.

The Nike+ FuelBand tracks your movements throughout the day, recording steps, speed and the time in which it takes to complete these movements and then outputs the number of calories you’ve burned during that time. The Fuel band then takes all this data it has been capturing and converts it into Nike Fuel, which is basically a measurement of fitness activity that is used to set new goals and compare your activity against others.

Overall a solid fitness tracker, the Nike Fuel Band works across a large variety of sports and exercises but is slightly limited by its minimal screen when compared to other smarter watch type fitness tracker products.
