Good news, you can pre-order your pair of Gel Nimbus 26 here.
If you can’t wait, there have recently been some exciting new colorways in the Nimbus 25.
Asics Gel Nimbus 26 Price
The Asics Gel Nimbus 26 will cost $160 (or £150), which is the same price as the Gel Nimbus 25 released at. This is a reasonable price for a high-quality running shoe that offers maximum cushioning and bounce for neutral runners. At $160 this is a mid to high price point for a runner, but we feel this adequately reflects the value in its quality and durability.
Design & Performance Updates
The Nimbus 26 has a sleeker look with a reduced stack that bids farewell to the rear overhang. The toned-down rockered platform is a departure from the previous version, showcasing a slimmer silhouette* that’s aesthetically pleasing and functionally sound.
The reduced stack height brings everything closer to the ground, offering improved stability and responsiveness and a reduction in weight.
At a glance, the upper design remains loyal to the Nimbus lineage. The stretchy, comfortable knit of version 25 has evolved into a snugger fit in the Nimbus 26, especially around the toe box. A noticeable change lies in the tongue; the thin, stretchy companion is now replaced by a thicker, more cushioned tongue. We also see an updated lacing system, moving away from the wire loop system of the 25.
These updates suggest a less stretchy but more padded and comfortable experience.
The Nimbus 26 comes with a different rubber layout; the old rubber layout was one piece up front, one in back, which gave it a smooth and consistent grip; the Nimbus 26 has a more joined-up structure and a reduction in the amount of rubber. Despite the change, the 26 retains the trusted Asics grip upfront and AHAR+ at the back.
These changes lean towards Asics making the Nimbus 26 more of a daily trainer, broadening its appeal.

Asics Gel Nimbus History
The Asics Gel Nimbus series launched in 1999 as a premium running shoe for neutral runners who want maximum cushioning and bounce. It is named after “Nimbus”, which means “cloud” in Latin, to reflect its cloud-like comfort. The Asics Gel Nimbus series has evolved with different features and technologies over time, such as:
- Asics gel technology: This gel-like material is placed in the rear and forefoot of the shoe to absorb shock and reduce impact on the joints.
- FlyteFoam Propel and FlyteFoam midsole: These are lightweight and responsive materials that provide energy return and comfort for the runner.
- Jacquard mesh upper: This is a breathable and flexible fabric that adapts to the shape of the foot and reduces environmental impact by using recycled materials.
- TRUSSTIC feature: This plastic piece is placed under the shoe’s arch to provide stability and support. The TRUSSTIC feature differs for men and women, depending on their running styles and body weight.
The Asics Gel Nimbus series remains one of the flagship products of the Asics brand, alongside the likes of the Kayano and the Cumulus, each catering to different runners’ needs. With a rich history of evolving yet retaining its core essence, the Nimbus series encapsulates Asics’ dedication to providing quality, comfort, and performance in every stride.
The Asics Gel Nimbus 26 is shaping up to be a great running shoe for neutral runners who want maximum cushioning and bounce and long-distance runners who need lasting comfort and durability.
